Embargoed Areas

According to the IOF Competition rules (§ 26.5), an embargoed area in orienteering is a designated zone that is off-limits to competitors before and during an event to maintain fair competition. These areas, which may include private properties or sensitive sites, are clearly marked on competition maps. Violating these restrictions can result in disqualification, making it crucial for participants to understand and adhere to these boundaries to ensure a level playing field.
